We always prioritize our own purchases locally first and Canadian thereafter, wherever possible. Shopping at Smith's Furniture & Appliances means you are giving us the ability to give back, right here at home.

Our company came from humble beginnings in 1960, when our founders, Winston and June Smith opened a small shoe and variety store, in what is currently our head office in Upper Gullies. The Smith Family built this business with their work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. They believed in selling quality merchandise at fair pricing, with a focus on customer service and they built a strong and loyal customer base for their products. In those days customers in CBS would always say that “if you need something, you can find it at Smiths!” Over the years, as the retail environment changed around them, the decision was made to change to retail furniture sales around 1970, and Smith’s Furniture and Appliances was born!
